Membership : Annual Gala Dinner Each spring, the Nova Scotia Salmon Association and the Atlantic Salmon Federation host a joint fundraising dinner and auction in Halifax. This event has become very popular over the years and is now a pre-fishing season 'must'. Money raised is used to help fund the good works of both organizations in the fight to save the Atlantic salmon.

The evening begins with a smoked salmon reception and viewing of the live and silent auction items. Auction items range from trips, fishing and other, to original artwork, limited edition prints, sculptures, fishing equipment, classic flies and more.

Special Guests at the Gala Dinner include the recipients of the Lieutenant Governors Award for Excellence in Atlantic Salmon Conservation, the Atlantic Salmon Federations Role of Honour Recipient, and NSSA's Dave Symonds Award and the NSSA Affiliate of the Year Award. Presentations are made by the Lieutenant Governor and the Presidents of the Atlantic Salmon Federation and the Nova Scotia Salmon Association.

Upon the arrival of the Lieutenant Governor, guests are seated and enjoy a sumptuous meal complete with main course, dessert, wine and coffee all skilfully prepared by a professional staff of chefs.

Following a great dinner, the live auction begins for the big-ticket items and moves at a fast pace. Guests also bid on some fantastic items in the silent auction. Combined with a generous raffle table and door prizes, it is difficult to come away from this event empty handed. All this and a chance to make new friends swap fishing stories with old friends and get yourself primed for the upcoming fishing season make this dinner one of the events of the spring. We even offer an income tax receipt for a portion of your dinner ticket. It's a great time and it helps raise important funds for Atlantic salmon conservation. We hope to see you at the next one!

The 2001 Halifax NSSA/ASF Dinner is scheduled for April 5 at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel.

Individual tickets for our Annual Gala Dinner are $100.00 with a $50.00 receipt for income tax purposes. Corporate tables are also available. For more information on the gala dinner or to donate an item, contact Lewis Hinks
